More than 50 project teams responded to the second call for proposals launched by Switzerland Innovation together with partners from the Swiss economy. The topics addressed by the award-winning projects range from efficient energy storage to biodegradable fast disposables and real time plant health measurement.

Green-Y  is a compress air energy storage system that stores electricity and generates renewable heat and cold with air and water only. With the support of the SI T4Impact Initiative, the team aims to develop its first pilot project and install Green-Y in the offices of the Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne. The system will allow the building to provide clean energy at a reduced cost.

Naturloop is one of the finalists for the SEIF Awards 2021 Tech for Impact comprise of five startups from Switzerland. During the Award ceremony on 10th June, a winner for each of the four award categories will receive CHF 10’000.–.

Die Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA erwirbt die Mehrheitsanteile an der STIMIT AG. Dräger baut mit dem Zukauf seine Kompetenz im Bereich der lungenschonenden Beatmung weiter aus. STIMIT hat sich auf die Aktivierung der Lunge und die nicht-invasive Stimulation der Atemmuskulatur bei Intensivpatienten spezialisiert.

NaturLoop is a cleantech and material science startup that transforms agricultural by-products into sustainable and affordable bio-composites in developing countries. By replacing virgin wood with coconut husks, the Biel-based startup aims to restrict deforestation, boost the local availability of furniture and construction materials, increase farmers’ livelihood, and promote a circular economy. NaturLoop will use the CHF 150,000 to boost their marketing efforts and launch a new pilot project to test and promote Cocoboard® in furniture applications.

The Startup battles at the nationwide Digital days was a tough one. Out of the 15 participating startups, Green-Y impressed the jury most with its technology that combines heating and cooling with a compressed air electricity storage in one device. The startup won CHF 10’000 and up to CHF 25’000 in Amazon Web Services credits.
