New Chairman of the Foundation for Technological Innovation (STI)
We are delighted to announce that the STI Foundation Board has elected Professor Dr. Raoul Waldburger as its new Chairman. He took up his post in February 2024 and succeeds Professor Dr Lukas Rohr.
Professor Raoul Waldburger has many years of management experience in both the private sector and higher education sector. He studied chemical engineering at ETH Zurich. After completing his doctorate at the Institute of Process Engineering at ETH Zurich, he started his career as a project engineer at F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG in 1995 and completed an Executive MBA at the University of St. Gallen. In 1999, Raoul Waldburger took on staff functions in the executive management of Holcim Ltd. He subsequently assumed management roles at Holcim branches across Central and Eastern Europe as well as in the subsidiary Geocycle Ltd, which focuses on sustainability and the circular economy.
Since 2022 he is Director of the School of Engineering and Computer Science at the Bern University of Applied Sciences. His extensive experience in managing companies and academic institutions, combined with his expertise in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, makes Professor Raoul Waldburger the ideal person to succeed the STI Foundation.
Lukas Rohr, the current Chairman, will remain a regular member of the Foundation Board. We thank him for his commitment and are delighted that he will continue to support the foundation.
