Breast cancer kills over half a million women each year. The cause of breast cancer is unknown. However, if detected early breast cancer is 98% curable. In order to improve early detection, women are invited to screening. Current screening technologies suffer from serious drawbacks. We want to change that with our technology.

SonoView is developing a new, reliable, cost-effective and pervasive gold-standard technology which will become a stand alone tool for widespread breast cancer screening for all women. The technology is based on a radically novel use of ultrasound. The key innovation lies in coupling new sensors able to capture information ignored by conventional B-mode ultrasound and sophisticated computing algorithms that process this information into diagnostically new and relevant parameters.

The STI’s loan (approved 2014) will be used to finance in-part the development and optimisation of the alpha-prototype of the scanner.
